Governance
Green Christian is run by a Board which comprises Trustees, and a few non-voting members. The Board is the body of people who share in the strategic leadership of Green Christian.
The official charitable objects of Green Christian are:
• To offer insights into ecology and the environment to Christian people and churches.
• To offer Christian insights to the Green movement.
Trustees take collective responsibility for fulfilling those objects, and for the finances and legal probity of our decisions. The Trustees are responsible for the work of Green Christian to the Charity Commission as Trustees of a registered charity and to Companies House as non-executive Directors of a Company Limited by Guarantee.
We have a number of Board members, who are not Trustees, but who join fully in all aspects of the Board’s work. The only exception is that, in the event of a proposal being put to the vote, non-Trustee Board members do not have a vote. The Board meets in person three times a year and has three Zoom meetings in between.
We employ six staff members for a total of around 29 hours per week to do the necessary administrative work that keeps Green Christian running efficiently.
