COP26 – Speak Up!
‘Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.’ Proverbs 31:8
There are a plethora of campaigns trying to speak truth to power in this critical year. Here are our favourites:
Call for the CEE Bill
COP26’s success requires the UK to demonstrate genuine climate leadership in taking meaningful action commensurate with the unfolding emergencies.
The CEE Bill commits the Government to doing the UK’s fair share to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees and preserving our ecological landscape. Support for this radical and truth-telling legislation will demonstrate public and political support for radical action at the summit.
Make COP Count
Faith groups in the UK are acting to Make COP Count. Join us!
This November, world leaders are meeting in Glasgow for important climate negotiations, COP26
It is an opportunity to keep the world below 1.5 degrees of warming that must not be missed.
To ensure this, UK faith groups are asking for:
1) An end to all use of public money to subsidise fossil fuels.
2) New and additional sources of finance for climate-related loss and damage.
Wave of Hope
Join thousands across the UK in calling for a better future using homemade messages of hope.
In 2021, the UK is hosting two critical summits – the G7 in June and COP26 in November. Decisions made at these gatherings will affect us all – especially those in the poorest communities across the world. It’s time for the world’s governments to work together for a recovery that tackles poverty and injustice, helps end the climate and nature crises, and provides vaccines and healthcare for all.
This is the message we’re sending together in the Wave of Hope, as part of the Reboot campaign. As we put up homemade ‘hands’ in our windows, add photos to a gallery, and display them at the G7 and COP26, the Prime Minister won’t be able to ignore our calls for a better future. Will you join thousands of people across the UK in the Wave of Hope?
