Green is Working, please add your voice.
Friends from Christian Ecology Link and Operation Noah joined with over 200 others on the steps of the Treasury on Thursday 18th October for an event organised by Stop Climate Chaos and Friends of the Earth.
The purpose was to send a clear message to the Government that Green is Working.
The CBI say that a third of economic growth last year came from the green sector, and the Green Alliance state there are almost a million people employed in green jobs already. So as we came together to celebrate this success, there were still two important ‘asks’ of the government this autumn.
- the Energy Bill going through parliament to include a clear target to ensure electricity generation is zero carbon by 2030
- greenhouse gas emissions from international aviation and shipping to be counted in the UK’s carbon targets.
The government needs to include these by the end of 2012.
So if you weren’t able to join us for this protest please Speak out on the Energy Bill, preferably before the end of October.
