Greenbelt 2023
We have now returned from a beautiful Greenbelt 2023. Thank you to all who stopped by!
This year we are shared our space with Christian Climate Action and because the weather, thankfully, was so dry, we were able to spill out into area in front of the stalls.
We had two activities:
Prayer leaves
We invited festival-goers to write their worries on one side of a paper leaf, their prayer on the other, and peg it up around the tent.
The chickpea challenge (how Greenbelt is that!)
We also invited people to answer the question “How do you respond to the cry of the earth?” by dropping chickpeas into bottles.
These were the options (and number of chickpeas collected):
- Pray (100)
- Support eco-organisations (we can recommend a good one ?) (96)
- Eat mostly plants (82)
- Do not drive (50)
- Do not fly (only pigs should) (56)
- Annoy my MP (75)
- Do you do civil disobedience? (43)
- Wacky stuff. Tell us here…(36)
People were then given a sticker on which to write their pledge of what more they will do to respond to the cry of the earth. And, of course, our Nine Ways leaflet.

Hi, just back from greenbelt 2023, was good to meet you on the stall. I didn't know there was a green christian group before so time well spent! Am thinking of joining and will be letting others in my home church in Essex know too. thankyou.
