House style – What is good
In order to maintain the look and feel of our web pages it is important that we all stick to the same coding styles. Most of these are built into WordPress and some have been changed by me to give a Green Christian Look and Feel
This is briefly what is available and can be accessed from the ‘Visual’ editing window which has the visual tool bar shown below.
Heading Level 1
Heading Level 2
Heading Level 3
Heading Level 4
Heading Level 5
Heading Level 6
These are all available from the drop down menu on the lefthand side of the visual tool bar. Notice that the heading for the post uses Heading Level 1, and the headings of Recent Posts and Recent Comments use Heading Level 3. This block of text is a paragraph which is the default setting of the dropdown menu. If you wish to put any headings within your post headings levels 3, 4 and 5 would be most suitable. Note level 6 is the same size as the paragraph font. If you want to have a heading in the centre or right hand side, simply type in the heading at the chosen level, then highlight the whole thing with your mouse and centre it by choosing the 7th icon along, right align with the 8th icon along the visual tool bar.
Heading Level 4 Centered
Heading Level 4 Right Aligned
It is better not to let headings run over more than two lines as its starts to look cramped and ‘busy’.
This alignment could also be used with paragraphs. Also within paragraph text you can use both bold and italic in the usual way, you could also use them together if you must. Note headings are automatically in bold. It is worth occasionally toggling between the Visual editing window (where you see the effect of the changes) and the Text editing window (where you can see the code added to effect the change).
WordPress also provides two types of lists, bulleted 3rd icon along and numbered 4th icon along

Should you want to make a part of the text stand out, then a block quote can be quite useful. This is provided on the visual menu by the 5th icon along. It is really reserved for things we need to put in quotes.

If you click the 12th icon, it will extend the menu and provide you with some more useful icons
The 2nd one on the bottom row inserts a dividing line – in our case it’s orange,
The 7th icon should you need a special character (½ ° α Ω ) and the 8th icon that allow you to that will allow you to indent your text

It is best as far as possible to stick to the facilities provided by the visual editor. Remember this has to look good on a tablet and a mobile and too much bold can easily become overpowering – less can often be more
