Join online – reflective weekend with Green Christian

Being the Still Centre on the Radical Edge

27-29 September 2024

Green Christian is holding a hybrid reflective weekend in September. We are offering an opportunity for members and supporters around the country to join us on Zoom.

You can join:

  • with a group of friends in your church or hall if it has a large screen and internet connection
  • or gather around a laptop at your home with a few friends
  • or join us as an individual.

For most of the weekend’s programme those joining us on Zoom will be experiencing the same talks and discussions as those at Othona. For a few sessions we will be providing material for groups and individuals to use in their home group or Zoom break out room. This may be questions to discuss, or guidance on exercises to do together, or various suggested activities during the Saturday afternoon session.

Those who book an individual place for the weekend will be put into Zoom break out rooms. If you have friends joining the weekend from other parts of the country whom you would like to join in a Zoom break out room just let us know and we can put you together.

The cost for a joining on zoom is £20 for an individual and £50 for a group of people meeting together. We will send you the zoom link which will remain the same for the whole weekend.

Our weekend will be guided by our team of three speakers: Bishop Laurie Green, Helen Burnett and Vanessa Elston – scroll down to read about them.

They have been crafting the programme together over several months with the Green Christian team.  The result is a weekend which we hope will help you deepen your existing commitment and insight as a green Christian, but also expand it with new, perhaps challenging, ways to live, as you seek to read and respond to the signs of our times.

We’ll spend time in many different ways:

  • Listening to our speakers share their wisdom and experience, in conversation with each other
  • Responding with reflective conversations with our speakers and with each other as participants
  • Interweaving all this with opportunities for stillness and a simple crafting activity which will enable us to unify head, heart and hands.

Whether you come to Othona or meet at home, our hope is that you will go back into the world able to hear and respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and to play a new part, however small, in God’s deep strategy for God’s Creation.
