Radical Presence – Green Christian Seven Session Course
The Coronavirus pandemic marks a threshold to a very different future. But will that future be better or worse?
In Green Christian we’re getting people together to claim the post-viral age. Radical Presence is a short programme of conversations, in which we’ll listen for God’s word in this time of pandemic.
Please use this course in your own church or friendship online groups.
Covid-19 is forcing existential questions upon us: not only about our own survival or that of our loved ones, but about the deepest values on which our society is founded. Will our civilisation get back to normal? Or was normal already finished? What kind of community are we learning to be? What kind of work really matters? When the siege is over, how do we want to emerge?
In Radical Presence we’ll learn from our faith, scripture and Covid-19 how to tackle the crisis that looms behind it – environmental breakdown. Joining in a short programme of weekly conversations, we’ll listen for God’s word in this time between worlds, in the company of each other, contemporary writers and desert prophets.
For the Green Christian-organised course, each group will meet for 60-90 minutes at the same time each week for seven weeks. Taking part in Radical Presence won’t cost you anything. You will just need your own computer, tablet or telephone and internet access. Together we will build a growing movement of people demanding a ‘sane emergence’ from this crisis.

I tried to join the course starting yesterday. My form was accepted a few days ago, but is didn't receive any email with further instructions. Then yesterday afternoon your website was out of action.
A group of ten of us from St. Stephen's Ealing have thoroughly enjoyed the seven weeks of Radical Presence, which we started soon after lockdown was imposed. With very interesting interviews with inspiring, thought provoking speakers, and varied content each week including arts of work and bible study, our discussions always overran the Zoom time allowed, having us logging on again to complete our weekly meeting. Congratulations to Green Christian.
This is a really good course, with a huge amount of creative interaction and debate. I am thoroughly enjoying the discussions, the interesting people and being challenged in both faith and practice. Thank you!
Enjoying the preparatory reading which takes me between 20 mins (skimming) and two hours (taking notes on paper!) and is all very stimulating. No idea how I would find these resources any other way. The small group discussions last 45 mins to an hour, which really allows us to get our teeth into the topic and get to know a bit about each other. Very valuable; can’t wait to run our own course
Radical Presence is enabling us to talk to each other about what's happening in the world with Coronavirus and the safety of the planet. I have found our discussions very interesting and enlightening, based on theology but also on action.
It is wonderful to meet other believers with a common interest and a passion for transforming our society - from so many different backgrounds. I pray that we will together discover ways of stimulating the imagination of our nation and bringing the Kingdom of God to earth
Enjoying being part of this group, it is interesting and stimulating and I feel I am part of a bigger picture beyond my own life. It is something positive to participate in during these times.
I am really enjoying this course. The advanced prep is very useful, the liturgy is beautiful, the questions for discussion are meaningful and feel there is plenty of time to explore ideas in greater depth (I find in other meetings the discussion section is often too brief). I have also found the flexibility to join on a Tuesday or a Wednesday invaluable. Many thanks

This looks really interesting and a timely opportunity to evaluate where we have been and where we want to go. If not now when are are we going to get the opportunity to do this? There may never be a better opportunity than now.
HI, I have tried to sign up but not heard anything concrete. Is it still happening? Do I need to be more flexible on timings (I only gave mornings, but could do more).
Hi all, many thanks for all your comments, do sign up on our form if you’d like to join a facilitated group for Green Christian members, then you can come along if you can.
I’d love to join in. In the process of launching a Green Christian group in Worcester and very excited about it.
I am interested and can recommend that we publicise it in my church.
Interested in joining a group. I have a hearing difficulty with double hearing aids but will see how it goes.
Would be very interested - but not sure if I will be called in to work.....and if so, exactly what hours this will consume
Not sure yet whether I'll be able to participate, but please keep me informed. Thanks
