Speak out on the Energy Bill!
This autumn is a crucial time for the UK government to tackle climate change. Parliament will soon be passing legislation that will determine how our electricity is produced and regulated.
Over 90% of the country’s electricity is currently produced from fossil fuels. We need to see real ambition to change this if the UK is to achieve its legally-binding commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The Methodists, Baptist, United Reformed Churches and Quakers have been working together to challenge the Energy Bill in its current form. They are making a unified call for ambition to create a sustainable energy system. Join them in making the same call to your MP. To find out more and to download a briefing on the Bill go to www.jointpublicissues.org.uk/jpitenvironment.htm . There are ideas about what to say to your MP at www.quaker.org.uk/speak-out .
They suggest you write before the end of October.
