Towards Silence – music for lament

Date: 6 July, 2023 | Category: Arts | Comments: 0

How do we lament all that is lost, and all that we fear will be lost?

In 2018, a Green Christian member, Carol Nixon, commissioned a string quartet from Welsh composer John Metcalf, with a brief to reflect the tragic mass extinction of species.

This heart-wrenchingly beautiful music can be heard either on its own, or with an accompanying documentary. Either could be shown in a church or non-church setting, allowing people to just sit, listen and lament. Or simply set aside a quarter or half an hour in your day to remember, to love and to grieve with God for God’s creation.
