Vegan Statistics

How many vegans are there in the world in 2020? Future Kind in the USA contacted Green Christian with their new report investigating the statistics.

The answer is not straightforward. ‘Veganism’ can mean different things to different people, largely depending on their cultural background. An omnivorous diet is the most common, with 73% of the global population regularly eating both animal and non-animal products. 14% are flexitarian, only occasionally eating meat or fish, whilst 3% are pescatarian, eating fish but not meat. At the moment between 2% and 3% are vegans, when defined as eating no animal products at all. In the meantime, demand for plant-based foods keeps growing in both Europe and the United States.
