Weapons of Truth and Justice – CAFOD responds to Extinction Rebellion

CAFOD has come out with a beautiful blog about the October Extinction Rebellion. In it they say,

The catechism states that, “The citizen is obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel… We must obey God rather than men”

They say the rebels should be respected and supported and give suggestions of how people might do that. Do have a read!

It is great that more people in our rich world are taking the climate change and consequences seriously. Thank you. Yes we are obliged to live by the Lord's Command: Love God and your Neighbour as self. Neighbours are suffering because of the gases that we have released that trigger climate change. These impact on the poorest. 36 of the poorest countries are most at risk of impact of climate change. I have seen people loosing their homes and livlihood for ever due to sea levels rising due to climate change. SO, WE each and all need to do what we can to reduce the emissions that cause climate change. that is a big ask as individuals, parishes, schools & places of learaning, Councils, Country. Lets us pray....... Lord give us the love and the Courage to love neighbour by tackling climate change, now. It will be difficult. So please help me, us Lord. Ozzie
