Write a Prayer

Show the Love Prayer

Every February since 2015, people from all walks of life have joined the Climate Coalition’s Show the Love campaign. By taking part you show the love for everything we want to protect from the climate crisis and create a safer world for future generations. 2021 is especially important as it’s the year of the big COP26 climate conference in Glasgow. This year Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday.

As our contribution to the Show the Love campaign Green Christian is seeking a prayer we can ask churches to use in their worship services on Sunday 14th February. A hymn of praise for all the good things we love, a lament for what we have lost, repentance for our complicity, or a combination of themes.

We invite all of our members and supporters to send us an original prayer which you have written. With your permission we will publish all the prayers on our website but we will select just one to use in our own Show the Love campaign in the new year. We will endeavour to get as many church communities as possible to pray the chosen prayer on Saint Valentine’s Day.

Send your original prayer to barbaraechlin@greenchristian.org.uk Please give your name, confirm this is your own creation, and give permission for us to put the prayer on the Green Christian website. Deadline: Friday 8th January.

The climate Coalition just launched their Show the Love pack for 2021 which you can see here. If you would like to order printed versions of the pack, postcard or posters, please do contact jasmine@theclimatecoalition.org

Silence at the computer engages our minds. We find silence in this time of waiting, seeing snow settle, birds fly distantly through the unsullied air. God gives us the grace to just about manage!

Wonderful idea to engage us all with prayer, thank you.
