Borrowed Time
In Green Christian we think the climate and ecological emergency is probably the greatest pastoral challenge the churches have ever faced.
We want to create places where people can meet together for a journey through climate grief and eco-anxiety. It’s work which requires new skills, new insights and new ways with words.
“Global warming and ecological collapse are threatening life, livelihood, culture and societal stability.” (Bex Craske, Earthwatch Europe.)
How do we react to these deeply unsettling truths? Borrowed Time offers safe spaces to explore and share our responses within the context of faith. We have programmes and resources for individuals and groups, and for ministers and others in leadership roles.
Deep Waters is an eight-session programme for groups which you can join with Green Christian or run with your own church. It aims to help people navigate their complex emotional responses to climate breakdown through a Christian lens of love, wisdom, and justice, and to lead people into a place of active hope.
Cloud & Fire is intended to enable those in Christian ministry (e.g. clergy, spiritual directors and members of religious communities) to deepen their theological, spiritual and pastoral responses for the new realities. It takes the form of a retreat in daily life, with eight gatherings over several months and individual reflection in between.
Calling a Wounded Earth Home is a simple five-session Lent course available to download. It covers topics of Love, Truth, Wisdom, Justice and Hope, using music, prayer and Bible texts to inform reflection and discussion on creation care and the climate crisis.
