Act Now, Change Forever – Lobby of Parliament

Wednesday 9 July 2025, Westminster

NEW! Read our Christian Campaign Brief for the day

The Climate Coalition are inviting thousands of people to join them in London on 9 July to lobby their own MP. We want to show that the majority of people in the UK want them to Act Now and Change Forever on climate and nature.

NB do wear a Green Christian, or other organisation T-shirt for most of the day, BUT bring another top to wear at your meeting with your MP when branded T-shirts will not be allowed.

What is happening when:

  • 9.30am – 7pm – MPs will be meeting with constituents indoors at three Mass Lobby venues: Westminster Hall, Methodist Central Hall and Smith Square Hall. There will be no rally or march
  • 9.30am – 4.30pm -we can gather in the Queen Elizabeth II Centre where Green Christian and Operation Noah have a joint stall – do come and say hello! There is also a “Faiths Space” for prayer and reflection
  • 11am to 3pm – All are welcome to join Christian Climate Action’s prayer vigil on the pavement outside Parliament
  • 11am to 4pm – WWF are leading nature walks beginning from a nearby park
  • 11.30am – The Climate Coalition have a photo call in Parliament Square. You can get a wristband ticket to attend this from the registration desk in the QE2 centre. Tickets are limited.
  • 12 noon – Quaker Meeting for Worship, Millicent Fawcett statue in Parliament Square
  • 2pm – Interfaith panel discussion in QEII centre chaired by Giles Goddard of Faith for the Climate

The Climate Coalition are asking everyone to talk to their MPs about these issues:

  • Finance: Deliver vital funding to communities hit hardest by climate change here and around the world
  • Fairness: Cut bills, back UK jobs, and secure a greener fairer future for all
  • Restoration & resilience: Restore Nature to Build a Safer, Healthier Future

Within this framework, we would like you to ask these specific questions:

  • will they push for the legislation to safeguard climate and nature in a way that is science-based and fair? So please ask:
    • Will you sign the Early Day Motion calling for an emergency debate and vote on the Climate and Nature Bill?
    • Will you raise constituents’ call for a continued debate and vote on the CAN Bill with the Leader of the House?
  • will they pledge to stop Rosebank, the biggest undeveloped oil field in the UK. Here’s their guide for meeting with your MP

Everyone will have to register on The Climate Coalition website.  A map will show how many have signed up for each MP.  80% of MPs will be in London that day. The Lobby will run from 9.30 to 7pm. The deadline to sign up is extended to 12noon on 8 July. If your MP does not turn up you will be invited to write a message to your MP on a postcard.

Zero Hour’s webinar on the lobby is really helpful – do watch at least the first 10 mins

Find out where/when your MP meeting is

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Registration – Everyone must register through The Climate Coalition’s website – even if you’re using your own supporter journey – to help TCC coordinate meeting times and locations. Unfortunately, anyone not registered will not be able to join an MP meeting on the day.
  • Tell your MP you’re coming – Once you register, you will receive an e-action to send a template email to their MP. There is also a ‘meet your MP’ guide that’s available to you.
  • Small groups – Meetings will happen in small groups of up to 10 constituents, all of whom must be registered. It’s the perfect chance to speak directly and effectively with your MPs about the action we need for a fairer, safer, healthier future for all.
  • Time slots – Meetings will be organised by region, in time slots between 9.30am – 7pm. Because we will be asking all attendees to register in advance, we will be communicating their time slots in advance.
  • Security checks – There will be bag and security checks as people access buildings to meet their MPs. For this reason, there are certain items that can’t be brought in. This includes campaign-branded T-shirts, placards on poles and large campaign signs
  • Accessibility –  The Climate Coalition are working closely with all their venues to ensure the spaces are accessible to all.
  • Transport – Don’t let cost be a hindrance – The Climate Coalition have a travel fund available.

The Climate Coalition is a coalition of over 100 organisations and 20 million supporters. Members include Christian Aid, The Salvation Army, the WI, Cafod, Woodland Trust, WWF, National Trust, Soil Association, Triodos Bank, Tearfund, The Church of England, Surfers Against Sewage, RSPB, Save the Children, Co-Op, Islamic Relief, The Wildlife Trusts —  and Green Christian!
