A Million Acts of Hope

13-20 May. There is more that connects us than divides us. Let’s celebrate that with A Million Acts of Hope.
- Come to our Million Acts of Hope workshop
- Adapt our Million Acts of Hope parish magazine article for your local publication
Watching the news or looking at your social media feed, it’s easy to believe that the UK is more divided than ever. The voices of those who seek to spread hate, harm our communities and separate us are loud.
But the reality is millions of people across the UK show up for each other, their neighbours and their communities every single day. From litter picking in parks to donating stuff to food banks, coaching our kids’ football teams to working together to make our streets safer – acts of hope and kindness happen all the time.
These stories are too often left untold. So, in May 2026, community and faith groups, plus charities big and small, will come together to celebrate and inspire A Million Acts of Hope across Britain. The 13-20 May will be the week when there will be the most focus on this campaign.
If you’re planning a new event (or adding A Million Acts of Hope to something you’re already doing) – you can order a pack to help you.
How to Join
There are 3 main ways you can take part in A Million Acts of Hope.
- Connect what you’re already doing during the Week of Action to A Million Acts of Hope.
- Collect messages of hope in your local area. You could think about creating a ‘Hope Wall’ or ‘Hope Tree’ with messages from your community on what or who gives them hope
- Go one step further and host a hope event. You could think about the kinds of activities that appeal to your community and bring people together. Maybe that’s running a litter pick or a community pantry during the Week of Action.
Why have we joined AMAOH?
We think our churches are ideally placed, through geography and values, to jump in wholeheartedly with this and that this is also an opportunity to be hope for the future at the same time, and choose creation-caring activities. Also this is non-activist, non-preachy and completely non-political – people from all sectors of society and all political persuasions can be welcomed and involved. This is the way community is built. And as discussed in our Call to Mission project, we are going to need strong cohesive communities in the near future.
