Greenbelt 2026
Green Christian had a stall at the last Boughton House Greenbelt this year, 27-30 August 2026. We had a wonderfully active and engaging stall, and were again located near the Hot House venue which hosted all the environmental talks.
To attract people to our stall, and to remind people we can still have fun without energy and Wi-Fi, we had a juggling and Bilboquet competition and the materials to make our own juggling balls out of balloons and sand.
Festival-goers were invited to answer the questions on our Climate and Nature Meter (you can print your own here) and given a postcard inviting them to attend the Greenbelt People’s Emergency Briefing screening on the Sunday evening, with links to the National Emergency Briefing website as well as the Church Resource to encourage and equip churches to show the film.

As well as the usual leaflets and magazines, we’d borrowed Climate Steward’s Carbon Footprint Duplo to help people think through their lifestyle choices.
To explore living gently further, we showcased Real Zero’s 7 Acts to Save the World. Do read more about this here. Its creator, Hugh Montgomery, is one of the speakers in the People’s Emergency Briefing.
And Climate Steward’s Carbon Footprint Card Game flummoxed the best of us.
Of course, looking at individual lifestyle can help us in our eco-discipleship, but part of our response to the cry of the earth must be to call for government action. And the campaign of the moment is the call for the new Rosebank oil field’s licence to be revoked. So we had information on our stall about contacting our MPs about this and a banner ‘moment’ of support for the Stop Rosebank campaign.
We were also involved in the Greenbelt program. Our churches Project Officer, Melanie Nazareth, chaired Operation Noah’s packed session Hope in a divided age: Responding to the climate crisis and the rise of the far right.
Operation Noah’s Cameron Conant highlighted the financial links between political movements and the fossil fuel industry. Revd Al Barrett framed a theology of creation care that speaks to the rise of right-wing ideology, and Operation Noah’s Clare Fussell considered how the “silent majority” wants stronger climate action, and how we can mobilise greater church unity around climate action in the face of division.

We were amazed by the number of people who turned up at 8pm on the last night to watch Greenbelt’s screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing, again chaired beautifully by Melanie Nazareth. I was handing out the PEB postcards as people left and all were really keen to take one to help them do screenings at their churches.
At Green Christian we always feel very much at home at Greenbelt, aligned with Greenbelt’s values of inclusion and celebration of diversity and biodiversity. On the latter, our first visitor to the stall on the Saturday morning was welcomed but moved to a safer location – it did not need to work out its carbon footprint.
