The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

Did you know that the annual UN climate conferences, COPs, still hardly mention fossil fuels? And we know that however much we increase renewable capacity, it is only leaving fossil fuels in the ground that will make any difference to our trajectory towards climate breakdown.

The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty is global initiative to phase out fossil fuels and support a just transition.

First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels

The exciting news is that the Governments of Colombia and the Netherlands have just launched the official website with details about the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, which they will co-host in the coal port of Santa Marta, April 24-29, 2026.

The historic conference will be the first-ever international meeting of governments focused on addressing the threat posed by fossil fuels to our climate system, our health, our security, and our future.

Do you think the UK should attend this meeting? We will be letting you know how to lobby them to go on this blog post soon.
