Apostolic Papal Blessing given to GC member and trustee
Ashley Ralston was presented with a parchment – the Apostolic Papal Blessing from Pope Francis. This was in recognition of Ashley volunteering over thirty-seven years for CAFOD. Ashley started volunteering for CAFOD back in 1984!
Ashley has also lobbied his MP on behalf of CAFOD on many occasions. In June 2019, Ashley joined a delegation of volunteers who travelled to lobby MPs in London. Most recently, he met his local MP, Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham with his Justice and Peace Group, as part of CAFOD’s ‘Parliament in your Parish‘ campaign highlighting the devastating effects that climate change is having on many of the poor communities CAFOD works alongside across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
Ashley has served CAFOD as an assessor for ‘Livesimply‘ and has subsequently travelled around the diocese assessing parishes on their suitability for the ‘Livesimply’ award. He hopes that by 2030, all parishes in Arundel and Brighton Diocese will have gained this award.
