Help the National Trust drop Barclays Bank

Are you a National Trust member?

For the past 4 years a group of Christians, led by Green Christian members Drew and Annette James, have been campaigning to encourage Europe’s largest conservation charity to quit Barclays Bank.

A resolution has been tabled for the 2026 AGM demanding that the National Trust tender for a bank that better fits with their objectives.

Friendly but forceful campaigning has convinced the National Trust trustees to support this resolution, however we do need to demonstrate a healthy weight of member votes.

I am a National Trust member – what do I do?

  • Go to the National Trust Your AGM 2026 page and select “AGM booklet”. Turn to pages 14 & 15 to read the wonderfully persuasive resolution and explanatory statement, along with the response from the NT trustees
  • On the same Your AGM 2026 page, click “Vote now”. You will need to “Log in” or “register” with your membership number that is on your NT Membership card (I had to do this twice for some reason so persevere!)
  • Click “vote on the resolutions”
  • Select the “for” box for resolution number 5. Alternatively, use the, “quick vote” option which also supports the banking resolution.
  • Please copy and paste the above text to your friends, families and networks to help build support
  • The voting deadline is 30 October, but best to do it now so you don’t forget!
  • Contact me if you’d like to join the supporters walk on the 6 November or/and meet up with others at the AGM on the 7th
  • To attend the AGM you will need to order your own ticket on the voting page
